UKHEC Workshop: XML

UKHEC is organising a one-day workshop on XML. This meeting
will take place in Edinburgh on Monday 28th January, 2002. More information
on getting to the venue can be found here.
The event will start at 09:15 and finish at 17:15.
XML (Extensible Markup Language) and Java constitute the core of Web
services today; Java providing the tools to develop secure, portable
and platform-independent Web-based applications and XML their means of
communication via structured, platform-independent data representation
and exchange. The workshop will focus on
- the XML standard
- designing XML formats for real applications
- parsing XML documents using Java
A familiarity with Java would be advantageous, but not essential.
A sandwich lunch will be provided for all workshop participants. There
are also a number of places on the University Campus to take lunch.
Registration
Attendance at UKHEC's workshops is free. Places are limited and the
event is now full. If you wish to attend please fill in the
registration form and your name will be added to the waiting list.
