The ACM Java Grande 2000 Conference was held in San Francisco on 3-5 June 2000. This Java Grande conference series focuses on the use of Java in the broad area of high-performance computing, including engineering and scientific applications, simulations, data-intensive applications, and other emerging application areas that exploit parallel and distributed computing or combine communication and computing.

In addition to 20 invited talks, there were invited presentations from Jim Waldo of Sun Microsystems on Jini, David Culler of UC Berkeley on Open Infrastructure Services in Java, and a representative of Hewlett Packard on the services infrastructure E-Speak. A full listing of the programme can be found at http://www.extreme.indiana.edu/java00.

The conference also gave an opportunity for meetings to be held of the Java Grande Forum working groups on Numerics and Message Passing.
