SGI Users' Conference

11th - 14th October 2000, Krakow, Poland

Joanna Leng

The SGI Users' Conference was the first of its kind filling the gap between a user group and a general academic conference on high performance computing. It is hoped that this conference may initiate a new SGI Users' Conference series. The conference covered all the types of computations that would normally be carried out on a SGI platform and so was pretty much unique in having about equal parts high performance computing to visualization. The topics covered included large scale simulations, graphics, system management, programming tools and data storage.

In addition to 6 tutorials, there were 15 invited talks, an exhibition area and the conference ended with a round table discussion. Some of the more well known invited speakers included J. Dongarra, Marek Holynski. A full listing and the program can be found at http://www.cyf-kr.edu.pl/sgi2k/.
